Eric Fesmire Class Reading #5-Nietzche and Bob Ross

"Art is not merely an imitation of the reality of nature, but in truth a metaphysical supplement to the reality of nature, placed alongside thereof for its conquest"-Nietzche

The above quote given by Nietzche is told in his typical language. Art as conquest. When we make art we are not just supplementing reality around us but seeking to complement it. In this way, there are no meek artists. Artists would have to been seen as those who an innate sense to conquer through the paint on a brush or the ink in a pen. I do not know exactly how this would work for Bob Ross and his "happy trees." Maybe Ross is the nail in Nietzche's theory that ruins it all. Or maybe Ross is Nietzche's Ubermensch. Regardless, I see art done in a more fearful reverent sense than I find here in Nietzche. But, phenomenologically speaking, I have never liked Nietzche and so my views on him are probably marred by past experiences.

What would Bob Ross say art is all about? Being happy and chill?
