"How can people see the Rocky Mountains, observe the Pacific Ocean, listen to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, read Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables or gaze at Michelangelo’s David in Florence and not see and know God?And is it possible to study the marvels of the brain and the way it interacts with hormones and the peripheral nervous system and not marvel as a Creator of massive complexity? Can we read of Jean Piaget’s studies of the development of thought and not see how God works to develop children’s and adults’ brains? Can we study the marvels of intelligence and the way the mind works and not see a greater mind at work in creation? Can we study the interactions among people in families, groups, communities and nations and not see that we have a social God?"
-- Everett L. Worthington Jr. “Coming to Peace with Psychology, What Christians can learn from psychological science”
I read this quote and I marvel at the truth that it conveys. We can consider ourselves works of art, as we were created by an all powerful being. Because we are created by Him, we are re-presentations of what is ultimately beautiful, and thus reflect the gloriousness of our creator.
