Devin McGinnis: Heidegger and Psychology
Heidegger's holistic theory of art and his concept of art portraying being makes me think about the idea of the psychology behind the creation of art. What could be going on through the artist's head as he creates his painting? According to Heidegger, this is part of what makes art, art. What synapses and neurotransmitters are coming together in a unique one time combination to make the artist feel the way he does to inspire him to make his art? To many times I think we ignore this part of art and take the art out of context. How can we truly understand the Mona Lisa without understanding what Leonardo De Vinci was thinking about when he got the idea to create this masterpiece?
