Michael Rybinski- Perceptions of the AT

1/30/13
One story that we were told in class involved how there are different perspectives of the Appalachian Trail. Thru hikers have put in a lot of effort and struggle to journey down the road, yet there are places on the skyline drive that have lookout points. People driving in cars can just stop and enjoy the view, and sometimes the paths of the hikers and the tourists meet. The driver perceives the trail and its hikers from a completely different point of view than the hikers themselves. It is an interesting concept that can be universally applied to all aspects of life. All we see is just one side of things. We never really realize that there are others experiencing the same thing in a completely different way.
