Marissa N: Tattoos & Phenomenal Experiences
In one of our last classes we discussed architecture and the spirit of a place. In this discussion, Dr. Redick said that art concretizes phenomenal experiences, or in other words it makes life experiences tangible. I think this is a very interesting concept. This is often the reason I hear people give for getting tattoos, that they are representative of a life experience. I have seen many military and fire fighter tattoos on men and women that have served or lost someone who has served. Tattoos are certainly a form of art that concretizes phenomenal Tattoos are one of the most permanent forms of art, so it makes an excellent example of this phenomenological concept.
