Adam Wade- Heidegger on Art External Reading #5

I read a passage from Heidegger's "The Orgin of the Work of Art" the other day mainly because I've heard a lot about Heidegger, but never actually read any of his work, and art seemed relevant topic.  His views were actually extremely interesting to me and reflected some of my own views on art as a whole.

Heidegger viewed art as a representation of truth in a given society.  It reminded me a lot of what we talked about in class, that a poet served as the creators of reality, so Heidegger views artists the creators of truth.  He claimed that artists not only could serve as a medium for truth to be represented, but also the originators of truth from which it spreads.

I've always viewed art as something that gives forth the artists personal "truth" and as something that can be interpreted differently by any observer.  It is very similar to Heidegger's "medium" of truth theory, and something I plan on reading more on in the future.
