He has a very complex theory, and I want to be sure I understand the basis of it.
Heidegger says that art is the origin of the work of art. His theory is broken down into the art itself, the artist, the perservers, and the work of art. Specifically, he questions what distinguishes artwork from other types of things. For instance, he refers to equipment, but why? It helps to determine the different types of art that has been created. Artwork and equipment are similar because they have created complexes of form and matter. He discusses that an artwork reveals truth by getting people to see objects outside their normal settings and revealing broader context that exist within them. In order to determine human cultures, he uses “world”, “earth”, and “strife” to reveal artwork. He also says that artist and perseveres brings them all together because there would be not artwork without them.
