Devin McGinnis: Beautiful and Terrifying

Can something be both terrifying and beautiful at the same time.  I look to a specific creature, a snake.  While a snake is terrifying, capable to harming an individual, yet strangely gorgeous at the same time.  What is it about said animal that makes it so gorgeous.  Is it the unknown that causes us to see it as beautiful or is it the danger and terribleness in it of itself that makes it beautiful.  It can not be merely this because if it were solely this everything terrible would be considered beautiful, which it is not.
