Mary Smith - Dance and Ritual (My Choosing #1)

In class we viewed videos of how dance is a form of art. The three asian women portrayed in the film were trying to tell a story; what that story was was up to the viewer. I saw it as a form of pain and suffering but then something changed and their lives turned out for the better. Another video we saw from from a movie, where the indians were performing a ritual for the white men. These white men saw it as something more appealing to the eye, not really understanding the meaning behind it while for the natives it was something that they cherished and had meaning to them personally through their tribe. This shows that people take different things into perspective; what may mean one thing to one person may mean something completely different to another.
