Place as a reflection of identity
Alex Reiner
Entry 15 - 4/19

With my senior seminar coming to a close, the conversation about place as a reflection the spirit of a space could not have come at a better time.  Throughout the discussion it became very apparent to me that the Trinidadian identity reflected, for my senior seminar paper, in Carnival on the island was a collective performance experience that encompassed the 'place' in which Trinidad finds itself.  This sense of 'place' reflects the Trinidadian identity, which the people of the island nation pride themselves on showing the world through their Carnival festival.  Trinidad as a place is a mixture of multiple nationalities, a diverse political and cultural history, and a promising future.  Carnival serves as the physical representation of 'place' and in turn identity for the Trinidadian people.
