One thing that sets people apart from animals is that we think about our food. (Point made in class)
I love to eat and I eat a lot but I do often think about the food I eat. Unlike my dogs I dont just scarf my food down without giving it some thought. Its not like someone or something is going to take it away from me before I finish eating. I think people think so much about their food, past the normal concern, is because they are concerned about what they put inside their body and that the person eating it most likely didnt catch it.
My dad and I go fishing all the time during the summer and we eat what we catch; its fish and I like fish. Yea, I get the regular this fish is cool, or he croaks when I take him off the hook but past the frying pan there is not much to think about except hot sauce or vinegar. But, when fish the came from somewhere else I wonder not only where it came from but what could have been possibly injected into it.
But, thinking about food goes past where it came from and stretches to...
Is it Healthy?
Where did it come from?
What is it?
Why is it so expensive?
Who would eat this?
Is this suppose to taste like this?
Is this chicken?
It this Organic?
Is this Gluten Free?
And the list could go on.
But for the most part, I think, people wonder and think so much about their food is because, for many people, the first time they come into contact with their meal is when its placed on their plate.
