Place and Space

Billy Cox
Place and Space

Place and space are different in that places have power, whilst space does not. Is it possible for there to places within places? If so, is it also possible to have spaces within places? That is to say, are there places containing some sort of power, and within these or overlapping with these another and different power? Do these places cease to have power if we were to build a parking lot over them? If they cease to have power does that mean that this power is somehow contained within our physical world? This idea of place and space relates back to the sacred landscapes elective I took sophomore year, and appears to be a common concept. I'm curious how religion plays into this concept. Is there a way that the place and space theory and large religions can coexist with this idea of places of power.
