Entry 12 - 4/16
In class today we talked about the concept of space and the
sky. While I don't totally understand
the line drawn between space and place I was really intrigued by the question
of where the sky starts and the concept of looking out from the earth as
opposed to looking up at the sky.
Adjusting my view of my place on earth, or where I'm looking from, forces me to view my existence in
a different way. While I'm not 100% sure
what that new way is, it moves my gaze of my existence and participation in the
world higher, above just existing within the space and above the ground on
which I stand. If I look up at the sky I
am aware of my presence on the ground.
If I look out to the sky, through the sky, I become aware of my presence
within the space of the world.
