Professor Redick gave us a quote in class by C.S. Lewis, “We do
not want merely to see beauty, though, God knows, even that is bounty enough.
We want something else which can hardly be put into words – to be united with beauty
we see, to pass into it, to receive into it ourselves, to bathe in it, to
become a part of it.”
My interpretation of this quote is that God doesn’t think
that beauty should matter, so he thinks that being in contact with it is
enough. But in reality, as humans, strive for beauty. We want to be it and be
surrounded by it.
