One of my favorite quotes by Andy Warhol is "art is what you can get away with" (Warhol). I find this to be compellingly true. Art to one person may not be the same to another. One can simply splash several colors on a canvas and call it art, or take a picture of a coffee mug, frame it, and then call it art. It is creations such as these that many people feel as though they can do it themselves. However they are not the ones who create those things, the artists that do are the ones that can get away with doing so. It is with this that we really see the search for beauty. Beauty in art for one person may be completely different for another. This is the true beauty of art, the capability of it to be in the eye of the beholder, and for people to be able to "get away with" it.
