Joel Hagstrom- Situational Beauty
A concept that not many people realize is that the beauty of a person or object is affected in a major way by the situation that thing has in space. An example is that a movie star, on the big screen covered in makeup, can look completely different in the "real world" because of their location. Many celebrities can go unnoticed on the street because they look so drastically different and less grandeur in reality. Another interesting thought that coincides with this situational beauty is the idea that some women/men look more attractive when surrounded by less attractive individuals. By surrounding themselves by other people who may not be as attractive as them, they try and boost their own looks in comparison to those around them. I guess you can say beauty is derived from a comparison to the things around oneself. I think it is very interesting that the environment or situation that an individual is in can have a drastic impact on whether they are deemed beautiful or not.
